Bone River - Fluss Der Träume (German Edition) (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I had to keep reminding myself that the story was taking place in 1849 or so. The language and dialog seemed very contemporary. This couple lives in a fishing village in Pacific Northwest. The husband collects Indian artifacts and sell them to a museum. The wife also becomes very good at identifing the different tribes by the found artifacts, happens upon a buried mummy of a woman. The story weaves around the mummy and the identity of the mummy. Pretty good. This novel was a total impulse buy thanks to Amazon's Kindle daily deals, and I am so glad I “picked" it up. I could not put this book down; I read until 2:45 last night (ahem, this morning) and if I didn't have a zillion essays to grade today, I would have stayed up later to finish it last night. Several other reviewers thought this was a slow start, and compared to the heart-pounding ending, the beginning is a little slow; however, the last 2/3 of the novel more than made up for a slower beginning. Romance, history, mystery, and some seriously fantastic descriptive imagery of the Pacific northwest all made this one a winner. Read it!
