The combination of coins rolling out of slot machines, bells ringing, cheesy sideshows in the lounge, and people at the ATM withdrawing money with a desperate look in their eye makes my stomach drop. In the past, I’ve been known to wipe out my whole bank account and max out my credit card to play with the high rollers, the VIPs, putting five hundred dollars down per hand without blinking an eye. You win one hand only to lose the next five. You try to leave the place with at least the money you had in your pocket when you walked in. Yep, gambling is a crazy roller coaster ride. I’ve left casinos on a high note, but my last few visits have been real shitty. The tables haven’t been liking me and I’ve lost my touch. I don’t know how many times I tell myself I’m not coming back, but I always find myself on the doorstep of hell with all the other lost, weak souls of this world trying to find satisfaction or redemption in the wrong place. It’s an extreme pain and pleasure, hot and cold, type of addiction.
