Breakout Nations: In Pursuit Of The Next Economic Miracles (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Enlightening, enriching. A unique experience. The author takes his reader round the globe while discussing the soci0-economic and political issue with which different regions of the world are grappling. Probably, the only book I'll give 5 stars. The sad thing about books like these, you crave for more such experiences once you go through them and there aren't enough out there(not that I am aware of) It gives a glimpse into those nations that are at the threshold of growth as at 2011. However, regrettably, some of the nations have fallen into deeper chaos political and economic - which apparently, the author could not have foreseen, before the book was sent for printing! Notably, Turkey - Erdogan is the fallen angel, fallen for the brotherhoods! India promising but lazy! The only recent change being that of Aam Admi Party chief, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal as the new CM of Delhi. This sea change in the electoral politics is new to India and perhaps may usher in more changes in particularly in the area of 'governance.' However, good governance does not guarantee good economic growth. AAP appears to be either conservative or not inviting in the area of economic development. China - yes, appears to have shed, or is in the process of shedding, its earlier assumptions of growth, in particularly, the one-child-policy, consumption-led growth and so forth; Nigeria - wow! Never new it had the world's second largest movie industry that manages its shows on shoe-string budget movie-making, video-tapes and not on movie theatres! A whopping USD 300 million! This book is replete with such fascinating economic opportunities. Quite impressed at the way the author approached each and every story of a nation, quite direct and to the point. Very insightful and imparts a panoramic view of the world albeit, from an investor stand-point. Recommended only for those who have a global bend in their perspectives.
