This story could have been GREAT but it was just way to short. I felt more like Alena just rolled over for Griel then realized they had some deeper connection. If this book had been maybe 100 pages longer with a LOT more detail and character building along the way I could have accepted the outcome but honestly I didn't feel it was worth the $1.99 I paid for it. I want to know how the Earth government reacted to their citizens' capture and I would have loved to see at least some redeeming qualities from Griel and the other men. As it was this book just left me unsatisfied. This was an interesting concept and it started out nicely, but in the end was a bit of a let down. Like so many others mentioned it was pretty short. I was unimpressed by how quickly her first mate gave in to their captors demands and on top of that Alena broke down fairly quickly as well. It reminded me a great deal of Tracey St. John's alien series where the men have two cocks and seduce the women into submission. Many may call it rape, though I think the term forced seduction is more accurate. I think it would have been nice for them to cement an actual trusting relationship before getting down to the sex, but I guess with such a short story this wasn't entirely possible. My biggest problem was that the end was abrupt and there was no real ending. It was open ended as in you could decide for yourself if Alena wound up staying with him or not -- it's heavily implied that within a year or two they would possibly be rescued, but it's never mentioned if they decide to stay.
What do You think about Breeders (2011)?
Just didn't like how much of a jerk the guy was.
