I kept repeating those words in my head over and over again as I paced the floor of my bedroom. We’d put the boys to bed a short while ago and she’d shyly gone into the room I’d shown her to, leaving me out in the cold. I wish I were the type to celebrate the huge victory of actually having her safe under my roof, of being able to walk down the hall and look in on the boys. I can close my eyes tonight and not worry about something happening to them while they sleep away from me. But no; I want it all, as incongruous as that is, I don’t think I will be happy until I have it all exactly as I want it. She’s turned me into one of those assholes that walk around with their tongue hanging out, at least that’s how I was beginning to feel. I don’t get it. I’ve waited longer for a woman to make up her mind. in fact, I’ve never rushed any woman into my bed, seeing as how I myself have never been into one night stands.
