Broken Aro (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Broken Aro follows the life of Aro Mason, a young girl who has grown up in the world of love and protection from her brothers and father - all accomplished soldiers. Her life is disrupted when her city falls under siege and she is separated from her brothers and captured by slavers. Disguised as a boy before by her brothers before their separation she must try to survive as best she can against increasingly difficult odds while learning who she can trust and how strong she truly is. What follows will further her understanding of family and introduce her to creatures of magic that she never thought truly existed. Thus begins her journey towards her destiny. Let me just say that I was blown away by this first book in this new series. Aro is such an intriguing character full of such spirit and courage. And then men that surround her are all so unique and intriguing, particularly the fae Kei and Prince. This is a harsh world and Jen Wylie does an amazing job of making that come to light. And of doing it in a thrilling way. It is amazing watching Aro develop as a character and getting the chance to see the bonds that form between her and the men she now calls family is absolutely thrilling. I found myself wishing at times that the story could have lingered from time to time, giving us even more of a chance to see who these characters are (but that could just be me being a little greedy ;)). I absolutely love the twist at the end and cannot wait to begin the next book! Hmmmm...I love all the male characters in this book! But I'm a dude...so not loving the heroine is kind of a sticking point. The heroine came across as whiney and maybe a little spoiled. I didn't hate her or even dislike her just didn't love her. Now I want a book on Damon! The dragos is really cool and I'm interested to see where this goes. Hopefully there will be more of him.I liked it and will be moving on with the story.

What do You think about Broken Aro (2012)?

This series reads kind of like Eragon. I really enjoyed book books and look forward to the next one.
