Bronxwood (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

When I finished Tyrell, this was the next book and I knew it would be good from the first one. When I started reading this book I couldn't stop reading it, the book was so good. The character in this book showed how he could make it through life without his family and take care of them while there father was gone. When his father got out he took over the family and everything even though he was in jail for a year or longer. Tyrell faced a lot of problems and tough decisions he had to make to continue living on his own. This book could teach a lot. I really loved this book! I read BRONXWOOD by Coe Booth with the anticipation of seeing Tyrell, the protagonist from the critically-acclaimed YA novel TYRELL, reunite with his younger brother Troy and getting him out of foster care. I did like the book very much but I felt there were still loose ends at the end. I wonder if Coe will write a third installment to this series. This sequel to TYRELL seems much more harsher and sexually provocative than the original but still a raw and organic voice of African Americans and Hispanics/Latinos living in the inner city. I will recommend this but I hope Coe will piece all of the loose ends in a third YA novel.

What do You think about Bronxwood (2011)?

Good book that gave a great picture of the challenges faced by poor youth. Captivating story.
