Bubble Trouble Board Book (1992) - Plot & Excerpts
This book is a tongue-limbering, vocabulary-stretching, highly hilarious story that must be read aloud. The rollicking rhythm and quirky characters are delightful, and there is just enough suspense to be compelling but not distressing. Picked by a 3-year-old from the library shelf (likely for it's proximity to where she was standing, and maybe the fun cover picture, and her enjoyment of bubbles), it turned out be bedtime story we both enjoyed. "Bubble Trouble" starts off with Mable blowing a bubble and her little brothers is stuck in the bubble. The bubble travels through the whole town and people are watching it as it passes. The entire book has rhyming words and tongue twisters. It is such a creative book and the rhyming words would catch a young reader attention. Their are many vocabulary words, but the ones that stood out are nefarious, emphasis, and quiver. A great learning experience would be to have the children go outside and blow bubbles and watch them travel.
