Bullet Point (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

I Think the author's purpose of writing the book was to entertain and to have a suspensful book for his readers. The book is really entertaining because the book has one entertaing event after another. The book is really suspensful because at some points you don't know what is going to happen next. I think the theme of the book is that you never really know anybody. I think that is the theme of the book because certain events in the book show that the main character Wyatt never really knew his father. Another thing is that the main character Wyatt never really knew his girlfrient either. This book is a narration. The book is a narration because it tells a story through a series of events. The book explains what happens to Wyatt after his baseball program is cut from his high school and how he meets his biological father. My opinion of the book is that it is a good book and I liked reading it. I liked how the author made the book so entertaing and suspensful. I didn't dislike anything about this book. I wouldn't change anything about this book. This book is similar to another book I have read by Peter Abrahams. After reading the first few pages of Bullet Point by Peter Abrahams I started to get the idea that it’s going to be about baseball even though that’s not related with the title. However it changes dramatically the further I got into it from a baseball story to kind of like a crime investigator. Wyatt a 16 year old coming from a small town and poor economy, added to that his parents are divorced and his dad is in jail. He chooses to move out after the school he attends is forced to drop the baseball program due to budgets in money. Just when he thought everything was going good he has to move to try and find a school with the sport he loves, baseball. Ending up moving to the small town his dad is imprisoned in, winding up finding a girlfriend whose father is also in the same prison and work together to find the truth. In this book Peter Abrahams seems to be following along with the good side. He seems to write more about the good in people which I personally agree with, and that sometimes humans really do make honest mistakes. For example when Wyatt wants to find out the facts behind what put his father behind bars, and for most people he speaks with his father is innocent. Eventually he meets his father and Wyatt himself thinks he’s completely innocent, but that he is covering up for someone else. When I read through this book most of it seemed like real life situations, I like how the author relates the characters with situations that real teens or just humans could be going through. Having divorced parents is sometimes really tough on kids just like Wyatt in this book, I know personally because my parents are divorced. Lastly, I would suggest this to readers who enjoy the love of sports. Wyatt strongly enjoys baseball taking after his father who was passionate for it. But also for those readers who like to investigate and put time into trying to solve things without knowing the outcome. Personally this is what I think kept me reading.
