If you have any important projects to attend to, don't start this mystery. It's a page turner with no flash backs so the events are continuous. The action takes place in Manhattan's Alphabet City and Greenwich Village. An aging junkie wafting in and out of dimentia confesses to the murder of a black man. Homicide Detective Darlene O'Hara of the NYPD investigates only to find the remains of a young boy.The dialogue and the characters, in my opinion, are believable. A very entertaining read. She named her son Axl Rose. Another detective who in order to be young enough had to have a baby at a very young age. I wish the characters were filled out a bit more. But the story is great. Not until the end and even then do the twists and turns stop. Each time there is another possibility to who and why. There are some very interesting side plots and people in the story to keep it moving at a good rate. I would very much read another of Peter de Jonge books.
Well written with some nice turns of phrase...kept me entertained
