Burying Our Swords: How Christ Can Remove Rebellion From Our Hearts (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
Loved the story and how much it brought the Spirit into my life at a time when I was feeling really low. I appreciate the way the author made the scriptures real and current, as only a good teacher can do. Certainly Kevin Hinckley is a good teacher, which I know to be true.It was an easy read, believable and enjoyable. Great characters that were easy to relate to and to like.I also appreciate that the story is about the parents and not their troubled son. It helped me to look at myself as the parent and my own "swords" which would have been harder to do had the book given attention to the child's issues. This story, with all the advice to the parents, was exactly what I needed to hear for my own life circumstances. In some way it lifted the burden I had previously felt, which I guess was the Lord's gift to me, because I certainly had the need of less to shoulder. Reading this book confirmed for me some already inspired truths. (Think 2 x 4.) Thankfully, my favorite scripture story was used to get the message of this quick, easy read across. Often I had over-analyzed the motivation, courage, and mindset of the 2000 stripling warriors. During this read, I was forced to consider the motivation, courage, and mindset of their parents. I really enjoyed the journey.
