Scarlett is "The Normalizer", a consultant hired in the entertainment industry to get out of control actors and musicians back in control. She's hired to normalize Tarin, lead singer of the band By Degrees, to help stop the drinking, drugs, smoking, sleeping around, etc.--typical rock star that's off the rails. But this one's different. There's some sort of connection with this one; he knew her now-dead boyfriend. So the rest of the story is about her getting him under control, and wrestling with these feelings she's having (and guess, what so is he).Great concept and plot development; I got a good understanding of Scarlett, but less so of Tarin and that was disappointing; I hated the ending.I loved the concept of this but hated chapter one and the last five chapters. Chapter 1 is a prologue and is so unnecessary since it's repeated in its entirety later in this book that I wondered what the point was. I also HATED the resolution... how she deals with her feelings of guilt over the loss of Austin and her feelings for Tarin. BUT, I can't understand why Tarin feels the way he does over Jelly and her unborn child and how things play out was ridiculously simplistic and naive. Why was I questioning his actions when Scarlett wasn't?? It just annoyed me that we had to read through all of the stuff she was going through and then we get NOTHING at the end. I hate simplistic wrap-ups and this one sadly fit the bill.I love Elle Casey's writing, just hated how she ended this. This will be worth the read for some readers. By Degrees by Elle Casey is yummy and packs a punch from page one. Go SLAP!!! Fan girl! Love my Elle Casey reads and promotions, I would recommend this one if you haven't read any of her work yet. I love the cover, I'm the typical sucker for gorgeous covers like this that draw you in. And I love me a good New Adult read, & no this is not suitable for the younger crowd, hence the warning! Fun and flutter worthy Elle Casey read!
