Camp Boyfriend (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I was pulled in by the summery story line, and feel to this novel. The days are getting warmer and so I felt it was a perfect read.I was in the mood for a light, fluffy sort of book, and that's what this book truly delivers on. It's a great summer time read. From the instant that Seth's character showed up, I knew I was going to root for him. He was my favourite character by far.One downside though, was that I found Lauren to be really annoying for most of the novel. I did enjoy seeing her character development, but it felt like it was coming a little bit too slowly. She kept going backwards and forwards, seemingly in an instant. She'd see one guy and want to be with him, then see the next and she wanted to be with him. I honestly just found her pretty annoying.I was also disappointed by the ending, but that's probably more due to personal preference. I was rooting for Seth so much, so when she chose Matt, I felt really disappointed. I truly felt like Seth was the better match for her, and I was actually shocked when it turned out to be Matt.On the whole, this book is a great summer read, and there are some really fantastic moments in it, so despite the slightly, for me, disappointing ending. This was a very enjoyable read, and I would definitely recommend it. I was thrilled with the message behind this book. I thought the authors did a great job of showing how a girl needs to know and understand herself before she can really relate to those around her. This was a delightful, fun story that kept my attention throughout. I was anxious to know what comes next. I was thrilled with the resolutions between a number of the characters. I was also a bit disappointed with some of the language and encounters between the guys and girls in the book. While I know that I am more conservative in this area than many others, I though the language could have been kept a lot cleaner. The authors did a great job showing how important it is that there not be pressure to have sex before one is ready, but I thought the characters were still a bit too physical with one another. Again, I have high expectations in this area. Others may not have the same concerns I do. I really like that Lauren needed to learn to relate to the girls around her and not just the boys. In fact, I actually cried near the end about the actions between Lauren and a girlfriend, and not between her and either of the guys that she adores. I also like how Lauren comes to understand her family better in the end. This is a positive uplifting story about relationships.

This book and I had a love-hate relationship until near the end when we kissed and made up.
