Captivate (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

This book could've been made so much better if there was less meaningless rising action and more development into the characters and their relationships. I loved the ideas that were presented, like how the people of Marin weren't actually mermaids despite what I thought when I first picked up the book) and also the mystery between Miranda and her connection to her parent's deaths a year prior. There was a lot of meaningless events occuring within the first half of the novel or so, and who you thought would be the main antagonist, Marko's half brother Damir, has his name mentioned maybe once after his initial introduction. There were too many holes and unexplained occurrences for me to properly enjoy this book. The ending third of the book also seemed incredibly rushed, as if Garden had suddenly remembered that there was a bigger plot going on in the book rather than the Marko-Miranda-Robbie love triangle, and tried to cram the climax, denouement and conclusion together really quickly.Basically, I loved the ideas, but abhorred the way it was executed. couldn't even finish it because it became pathetic. wher4e is her backbone, she has just been kidnapped! Scream and kick bitch cause that is one right they cannot take from their victims. Girl they want someone who sane quiet and submissive. Become a crazy ass demanding bitch and I can promise you that they would throw you out of the ocean. Threaten to kill the king in his sleep do not try a pathetic escape attempt then give up!
