The doorbell had rung twice, and both times Connor had answered it. The first person had been Ms. Finch, wanting to borrow some sugar. Lauren knew it was only an excuse to see why so many people had been stopping by. Connor was his usual and charming self, seeing to it that Ms. Finch got her sugar along with an official introduction to Jax and Taryn. The second visitor had been a deliveryman from a local upscale department store. He’d delivered a box, which Connor signed for and then placed into her hands after pulling her aside into the kitchen. “If you are dead set on going this evening, this is your outfit,” Connor said, his words coming out like gunshots. “As my submissive, you’ll look the part or not go. We’ll leave at eight o’clock when the floor opens for play.” “May I ask you something?” “What is it?” Connor inquired, his resignation evident. “What happens after tonight?”
