THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW!!!Well. . . I don't even really know how to describe this one. The main character, Cara, is a lonely and unpopular girl in high school. Then her childhood friend (Zoe) that her parents always hated shows up, she agrees to hide her. Zoe helps her get a new look, new friends, and a new boyfriend. But then her next door neighbor is found dead, floating in the pool. Then Alexis goes missing and turns up dead. Both of the girls had been mean to Cara, calling her Choker. Zoe is gone sometimes when Cara gets home and is always acting suspicious. I expected her to be the one who killed them because of how wierd she was acting. . . towards the end Cara came home to find Zoe covered in makeup, going through her mom's jewelry box, and wearing her dead cat around her shoulders. Zoe admitted to killing Cara's cat Samson because he shredded Cara's gym bag. Then later, after Cara's date with Ethan, she admitted to killing Alexis and the other girl Sydney because they were bullies to Cara. Then Zoe runs to the barn. Cara tells Ethan everything and they have the police surround the barn while Cara goes in. Zoe attacks Cara and she tries to get help but then the police take her away. Then everyone thinks it's Cara's fault and when she tells them it's Zoe's fault, they explain that Zoe isn't real. Then you realize that Cara has psychiatric problems and hallucinated the whole thing because she stopped taking her medicine. She also killed her cat, Alexis, and Sydney. But at the end, AFTER she takes her pills in the mental hospital/jail, Zoe comes back! I don't know if she's real or not. . .The author did a good job of keeping the reader interested by using lots of description and plot twists. It was really weird, but hard to put down because I had to know what was going on. I can't give this book a great review because I figured out the ending less than a quarter of the way through the book, probably before that. I also can't give it a bad review, because I read the entire thing in one sitting without stopping for anything. I'm a little confused by the other reviews because I'm an absolute wimp and this didn't creep me out at all. One thing that happened towards end downright infuriated me, but I also called that particular thing happening so it wasn't creepy or a shock.Bottom line, it was a quick read and it entertained me, but I would have been happier if I hadn't been able to predict the ending.
