This book was amazing . It was sad yet happy, it was ugly yet beautiful and it was broken yet so so complete. I enjoy the story but i adore the MCs, each and every one of them felt so real to me like i know them personaly. The thing that i will always remember from this book is Adam, not only because he was such a briliant funny character but mostly because he represents in my mind so many nameless young amazing men and women who lost their battle against AIDS and only live in the memories of the people who loved and cared for them. Great read and very emotional journey. Thank you . This book was an emotional roller-coaster for me, because it touched really close to my heart. I had someone like Adam in my life (happy go lucky, bright, sunshine, brilliant and wise beyond his years; he loved life too much and made a big party out of it) and he was also taken away by AIDS, the certainty of death is a horrible sight to witness, specially when your loved one insists on being their happy self and hides his fears. Reading Caregiver was a catharsis for my soul, and for that I thank this author, for keeping this story so very real. On the other hand we have Dan and the influence that Mark, Adam and ultimately Sullivan had in his life. Dan learns new, strong things about himself when he meets Adam, the new friendship gives him courage to take a stand. I really wanted to know where his doormat attitude came from (at a point in the book there is a reference to his parents being responsible for it, but it wasn't explored any further). His character is the definition of a good man, I was rooting for him as much as I was rooting for Adam. The author painted a vivid picture of the Tampa Bay, Florida area that I enjoyed very much. I've lived in FL for twenty years and I found myself recreating in my mind the drive to Brandon, and even to Raiford. The fact that I've been to La Teresita (the Cuban restaurant)and enjoyed their "cortaditos" very much was a nice surprise. This one goes to my "favorites" shelve.

When you read this, have tissues ready. A touching story of love and all the shapes it takes.
