not as good as the first, but sequels rarely are. it's always like the author is trying to ride the wave of enthusiasm over the first book, which is either a hit or miss. for me, it was good, but it all seemed a little... stilted. maybe that's not the right word, but I can't think of something more adequate. that's as close to the idea as I can get. I don't really know how to describe it. in it's own right, it was still pretty good though, and I did like it. Raced through this book in a sleep deprived state of equal disbelief at the crazy plot twists but steady character building of Katniss and Peeta the main protagonist maybe of this series. No, need to get deep and allegorical about the crazy, inane pier and laws of those who have power and the feelings of real or absolute marginalization of those who don't -- as the heroine demonstrates, you always have the ability to control, have power over something in life even if it be something as small as maintaining a sense of humor!
