Charlotte ~ Pride And Prejudice Continues (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

I loved this story about Charlotte and Mr. Collins! The setting takes place a few months after the marriage of Charlotte Lucas and William Collins. Mr. Collins is still doing his best to placate Lady Catherine de Bourgh, fawning over her as much as possible. Charlotte soon tires of this, even knowing that she did not marry for love. She still is very supportive of her husband, and slowly begins to make him see how he should really act in a marriage where a husband and wife are supportive of each other. Charlotte soon makes her own friends in Hunsford. Mr. Collins begins to see what a treasure he has in a wife and starts to fall in love with her. But another person has also fallen for Mrs. Collins kind and generous ways - Colonel Fitzwilliam, Lady de Bourgh's nephew and cousin to Mr. Darcy. Charlotte has to fight her attraction to the Colonel as she is learning to love the comfortableness of life with Mr. Collins, as well as falling in love with Mr. Collins himself. I've already bought the second book in the "Pride and Prejudice Continues", titled "Rosings"! This book was disappointing. The book dragged and I found myself skipping paragraphs to get through the book. I enjoyed the relationships Charlotte developed with the neighbors as well as her relationship with lady Catherine. It was nice for her to find an ally in Colonel Fitzwilliam. Then their relationship took an unbelievable turn and the book went downhill from there. This book had potential but it's as if the author was in a hurry to write it and didn't bother fine tuning the characters, plot and grammar. My biggest complaint is The unbelievable change in Mr. Collins, he was one character who should have been left alone. Charlotte made a choice to marry a bumbling idiot so he didn't need to change to make a happy marriage for the Collins'.

What do You think about Charlotte ~ Pride And Prejudice Continues (2000)?

Imaginative sequel to Pride and Prejudice. A bit long at times, but still good.

The author really captures the prose of Jane Austen. A great holiday read!
