**Originally written for Book Bliss book blog.**Review: 5 starsGeneral: AHHHH!!! It was so so short! Charred Tears was absolutely stunning, a beautiful and fantastical ride that I could not get enough of. This book is definitely not a stand alone and this book is just as amazing as Charred Heart so there is no reason not to start there! Like I said, the only thing wrong was this book was a novella and I wasn't expecting that, I am not so patiently awaiting Charred Hope.This book was just as engaging, spicy and well done as book 1. It does start almost immediately after the book ended. The descriptions in this book honestly blow book 1 out of the water, because while book one was steeped in sex and character building, this one was steeped in pure, beautiful plot. This was the section where we learned way more about the world and all it's dirty secrets. Goodness are there dirty secrets everywhere! It was insanely original and a little over the top but so fantastic just the same. I would kill to be able to do what Sky can!The book was well paced, the characters as entertaining as before but with more information on certain side characters, like Gunnar and the mysterious Gavin. The action in the book was breathtaking each time and Lizzy Ford knows how to write a cliffhanger, it's a fully finished novel but leaves you dying to know what comes next! While it wasn't as sex influenced as the first book the scenes still sizzled and I'm rooting for forgiveness.Characters: Skylar: Skylar isn't too different this book. We learn more about her powers and get to see how see deals with the aftermath of a triple betrayal (Dillion/Mason, Chace and technically dear old dad). I found her to be believable from all angles and loved her reaction to it all. She's growing more comfortable with the world she's thrust into and I am very interested to see how the changes we will learn more affect her.Chace: Chace really does have a huge change. He essentially repents and accepts his new role in life and his love for Skylar. I still love him, he's even more loveable now because he didn't lose his alpha instincts but you can see the change in him. I am in love with this series! This book was better than the first! Just wow and I can't wait for no 3The concept is so different from any other shifter books I've read, really great fresh new concept. The dynamic between Skylar and Chase is amazing, it's real! Fights and arguments, love and friendship, it's not perfect but it's so real.I'd you love romance, action adventure and intrigue the. Read this series Comment | Permalink
