I just never really connected to the characters, because right from the beginning, I would get into a scene with Erick and Bo, and then suddenly the chapter would end. The beginning of the next chapter would summarize how the rest of the night or date went, but that was all telling, not showing, and that didn't allowing me to be there and experience them getting to know each other or how the interacted, so I was constantly feeling cheated and disjointed. I decided to just push through, and the book did have some good moments, but even by the end, I didn't care beyond a cursory happiness that they worked out not only their relationship, but their lives as well. On a side note, yes, the GFY plot worked very well in this story, and that was perhaps the best feature of this book. And, I did admire Bo's courage to face all of the changes without doing the usual crap that ends up hurting the love interest. I read this book in one sitting. I love a slow burn romance and characters who have self-aware inner monologue. Bo was an easy to identify with main character, whose POV was well done. While this is essentially a GFY novel, it was a lot more sincere. Choices and Chances was a great read with well developed characters, and an excellent storyline. Highly recommended, and I will be reading more by KL Belanger.
