City Of Lost Dreams (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

While I didn't find this book to be as good as the first, it was still very enjoyable. This time around, Sarah, Max and Nicholas are on the hunt for a cure for Pollina's illness. We get a slew of new supporting characters and we explore Vienna, along with a bit more of Europe. The big difference here is that they all seem to work more independently from each other this time around, breaking up the chemistry of the group. There is still time-travel, humor, sex, and magic, but it just didn't have the same exciting feel as The City of Dark Magic. I'm still hoping for another book in the series. While significantly shorter than the first installment, the sequel was packed with more fantasy and a little less history. A fun read, but it felt a little unfinished to me -- as if they could have fleshed out some plot points or characters more fully. Perhaps I just expected more since the first book was such an enjoyable mix of reality and fantasy that even though it was fluff, it felt substantial. This was still substantial, but... more fluff than not.
