I've been meaning to give this series a try for quite some time now and when the first book became available on Scribd I gave it a try. Based on reviews I'd read and the synopsis, it was about what I expected, not great but not bad, either. I did like the background story about the heroine's life and she seems thus far like a likeable enough girl. James is more of a mystery, but in a cliched sort of way. There were very obvious similarities to 50 Shades, no question there, but with added complications thrown in. Plus, James does seems overall like a more "normal" person without quite as many issues as one might think. I do need to comment here on the almost total lack of editing in this book. As time permits I occasionally do some proofreading and editing (mostly when a friend who does this sort of thing for a living gets overworked and begs for my help!)so I realize more than most people just how pricey this can get and totally empathize with indie authors who have no publisher and have to pay for everything out of their own pocket. Because of this I do tend to overlook various typos, grammar and punctuation errors, as long as it doesn't overly impact my enjoyment of the book. However, this book had so many errors, pretty much one on every page, that it started to grate on my nerves after a time. Beyond the obvious spelling and other mistakes, there was also the consistent use of the word "okay" spelled as simply "ok". This is NOT okay! Same with alright - it is not all right to type it this way.Last, I realize this book is a four-part series but I just thought volume one ended in a really weird place, not exactly a cliffhanger but not really finished off, either. Not sure if and when I will continue with this series. Glad I finally got the opportunity, though, since I've been curious about it for some time. Good story, but probably not enough to bring me back for round two. I'm a huge fan of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy and the Crossfire series, so I was looking for something to read that is similar to those books. OMG!! I found a new author now! J.S. Taylor is an amazing writer and I can't get enough of her books! One of my new favorite authors! I read this one in three hours and bought the next book and started reading the second book within two minutes of finishing this book. Trust me, this book is worth more than five stars. I adore the characters in this book, the unique plot, and the author's writing style. I highly, highly, recommend this book!
What do You think about Close Up And Personal (2013)?
It was okay but I would not be finishing the series as I found the plot quite dull and slow moving.

Here's a hot tip... If you want readers don't compare yourself to the fifty shades atrocity blech
