Colazione Da Darcy (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

This is a story of a London Mag writer who lost in touch with her past Aunt Molly but was left with an island on the west coast of Ireland as an inheritance! The thing is, she can only fully inherit it IF she lives on the Island of Tara for a year - with a bunch of villagers whom she must persuade to settle there. It was a huge sacrifice on her part (abandoning her glam and stylish English life for a basic Irish (and island-ish) one. But when all's been set and everyone's coping, she finally finds herself drawn not just to the serenity of living on the beautiful island of Tara, but to his grumpy builder, Dermot, as well. I'm sure both fans of Sophie Kinsella and Rainbow Rowell would love this. Breakfast at Darcy's is just as fun and quirky as you could imagine! I absolutely love Ireland and I like a good story just like this one - so this is what drew me to read this book. Memories of visits of Ireland came up constantly so I might be slightly prejudiced LOL but it's a really lovely story, fun and quirky and I like how the characters aren't as predictable, also that they develop - themselves, but also in their relationships to each other. Some things made me laugh out loudly. *O'Connell Street*... hahah. :DIt's fun, it's sweet, it does have a touch of myths and legends and crystals and stuff which I don't mind at all. I'd have liked to see that developped a little further. Not just because I'm interested in it, but also because it was *there* on and off, but sometimes just came up and nothing more happened with it (like the crystals left to Darcy... yes? What about them now? To me it sounded like they'll have some deeper meaning later, but they never came up again. It's no big deal, but I seem to remember exactly such little detailed things that suddenly go missing). The very ending seemed a bit rushed to me, but that may have been due to the author having to shorten the story and all that. Which is a pity. A couple of pages more would have been good there. But that's me just going into details.Get the book and enjoy it. :)
