Comment Séduire Un Geek, Manuel Du Fêtard (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
It was cute, it was sweet. Just the right amount of angst. But the wow factor was totally missing. I never became vested in the main characters. Some good bones were there, but the execution was poor. This writing duo doesn't work for me. I listened to the audiobook and it was full of errors...mispronunciations, repeated sentences, wrong names. It had obviously not been edited before it was released. Paul Morey is a mediocre narrator, but he does most voices well. His narrative voice leaves a lot to be desired. His chosen voice for Donovan was absolutely ridiculous...a combination of Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck. Good grief. What a creative book! Each chapter begins with such a clever analogy from the computer world to the relationship world. And the wordplay! So fun. Even the individual chapters are broken down into sections (i.e. 1.1, 1.2, just like a manual). As for the story? Wonderfully easy to read: likeable characters, yummy--just the right amount of tension and release. Perfect for a light, captivating feel-good read. It has substance--the characters seem real and their journey believable--and it has excellent relationship pacing.
