It’s like something you’ve done is about to catch up with you, and you know that it isn’t going to be good. I’d had that feeling all freaking day, and it was about to drive me out of my mind. At first I’d thought it had something to do with school -- maybe a mad parent, or an evaluation that didn’t go very well, but that wasn’t it. Even long after the school day had ended, that gnawing feeling continued to worry me. I just couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong. When I got home from work, Maverick didn’t make it any better. He was all “Mr. Serious” and wouldn’t even talk to me. It was obvious that something was bothering him, but as usual, I had no idea what it was. I could only assume that it had to do with the club. You would’ve thought they’d have been able to tell me something. I hated being left out of the loop. There was nothing I could do to change it, though, so I had to let it go. Hopefully whatever was bothering him would pass soon, and things would get back to normal.
