It's been a whole since I had read a book in this series had it on my kindle for a while. But wanting to do something other than fantasy it was a nice change. Not the favorite in this series I love the exchange between Charlie Louis and Angel with this book lacked. It was a decent who done it type book lost are the "spirits" in this story line so quite the change. I'm on to the next one however as I still enjoy this series John Connolly's Charlie Parker is an always-intriguing character: a gritty, determined p.i. who's regularly haunted by ghosts from his past and who gets himself caught up in some very convoluted story lines. This one's about the disappearance of a girl in a small Maine town that ultimately intertwines with several back-stories, including association with Boston organized crime and a decades-old murder case. Connolly's a great writer, but he sometimes tends to wax poetic in his very descriptive prose, a trait that occasionally overburdens the storyline, even if well spoken. He also needs to learn to make his chapters shorter, a tactic that might accelerate reader interest and ease propulsion through the yarn.
liked it but didn't love it, wouldn't look for other of his books
