I do enjoy searching out books to fit a particular requirement - in this case it was to read a book where somebody made a New Year's resolution. Happily, my library has an excellent search function! This book is in the crime genre, which I almost always enjoy, and part of a series, so I figured if I enjoyed it then I could add another author to my to-read-more-of list.As far as the resolution goes, I think the previous book in the series may have involved a house-guest, as it was 'to avoid irritating house-guests and nerve-wracking cases'. Of course, as is always the way with New Year's resolutions, she doesn't manage to keep it! Oh yes, she is Savannah Reid, who is a private investigator. She used to be in the police force and still works frequently with her old partner, a curmudgeonly rough diamond. So, there's a missing person (murdered???) and then a murder disguised as a natural death, there are numerous suspects (of course - what murder mystery would give us only one?), many of whom are extraordinarily glamorous (the crime scene is one of those horribly expensive spas where people go for plastic surgery and all sorts of pampering). Savannah herself is not (glamorous), but has come to terms with her size and shape, etc. etc.This is an easy read and quite fun. I'm not averse to reading more, but not caught enough by her to seek them out. Having said that, I think there's a challenge on my list to read a book with food in the title, and as these all fit I could well be reading another this year.
