Crimson Veil (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

I've been really bad about reviewing the books I've read lately so I'm going to try to do better, starting with this book.Crimson Veil, number 15 in the Otherworld series. Wow. Can it be that many already? I never expected this series to go on so long. Don't get me wrong, this is far from a complaint. I love that we are seeing these sisters grow and change, and seeing the people around them from Chase, (who started out as kind of a creep) to Iris and everyone in between and after also grow and change. I am perfectly happy to continue to let this world encompass me every time a new book is published. It's always bittersweet when a short series (trilogy) is over just as the characters are making changes in their lives. That being said, I hope Yasmine Galenorn is able to keep this fresh and new. She hit a home run with Crimson Veil. Finally, we see growth and renewal and acceptance in Menolly. She's less one-dimensional now and more human. Though technically a vampire, she still holds on to her humanity. And in the past she was afraid to be both vampire and human. Afraid to embrace both aspects of herself and show that though she is almost indestructible, she is still vulnerable. But she did it in this book. She let her hair down, figuratively and literally. I'd love to see an image of the model used for her covers in this aspect. Their home world is being torn apart. The Spirit Seals are at risk.New players have been introduced, old ones are taking on new roles, and not so old ones are gaining new depth and dimension. The interplay with Menolly and Roman intrigues me. I'd like to see a little more into his world. I want to trust him but, I think there's a slight overlay of imagery in my mind with him and the vampires of Galenorn's other series, Indigo Court. So a little more exploration of Roman would do the series some good. Maybe some interaction between him and the other members of the household would be a good place to start.I can't wait to see where we go with the next book, and the new magical character that has aligned himself with the sisters....October is a long time from now. As usual, I loved it. Easy read, good storyline. However the reason I didn't give a 5, I am getting a little over the doom and gloom. Yes it is sad and bad with the war but I am ready for a little more life and excitement to it. I think I missed that a bit this time. But I will definitely wait for the next one. Oh and can we have a bit more Roman please and Shade. I feel like they are both getting a bit wussy!

What do You think about Crimson Veil (2014)?

This book was a let down for me. I feel like nothing major happened so much is still up in the air.
