Criptopunks. La Libertad Y El Futuro De Internet (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
When you get past the fear-mongering, dystopian warning at the beginning the conversation between Assange and company was actually pretty intriguing. Themes of what freedom, communication, surveillance, privacy, and the landscape of the internet are like both now and both ideally in their minds. Useful to think about these greater themes and how as a community these decisions are made and negotiated. I would recommend this book to everyone. The material is very important for all of us to understand. There is a saying that you don't need to know how a car works to drive it. I would say it's still important to know the rules of the road. This book outlines the rules of the Internet. My only negative comment would be on the discussion style. Assange tries to play devil's advocate here and there, but it never quite worked as a philosophical debate that other books (such as Ishmael) have done so well. Instead we get a panel discussion, which is fine, but can be a bit tiring.
