Csöndsarok: Otthoni Meditációs Gyakorlatok (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Making Space – Creating a Home Meditation Practice by Thich Nhat Hanh; published by Parallax Press, 2012.making space bookI love this book!!It is a pocket-sized book, which i could see myself carrying around in my pocket if i am not careful. I am not a Buddhist and yet i find many of their daily practises to be of great worth in my life and this book proves that to me yet again. This little book will help you create your own meditation practise and breathing space through short chapters and tiny steps. From chapters that are titled ‘Stopping, Breathing’ and ‘Sitting’ to one that is titled ‘The Cake in the Refrigerator’.There is a lightness to this book that you will fall in love with too, i am sure of that. And…‘The Cake in the Refrigerator’? In this little chapter we are taught how to help bring harmony and peace back into a home after discord such as a cross word and invites you to sit down and share tea and cake if you have one and if you haven’t you can still bring people together in silence until peace is returned. I mean who can stay cross over a piece of cake? This is a 5 ***** book, which means everyone should read it. Pocket sized nugget of a book which covers the basics of starting a meditation practice at home.... it's really a beginners book, but there are some gathas that could prove helpful to someone a little beyond beginner stage. I personally enjoyed the chapter on metta meditation because it a new concept to me and one which i can see myself incorporating. The writing is accessible to anyone interested in meditation... no prior knowledge of Buddhism necessary.
