Story centers around Belle a woman who has not had much luck in the area of romance and Brian a local newspaper columnist. Brian is wanting to interview Belle who bakes a special cupcake on Valentine's Day. Belle was taught the fine art of baking by her grandmother. She perfected the family recipe for making a special cupcake that brought 15 couples together on Valentine's Day resulting in people thinking that these cupcakes had magical properties. Story is cute, quick read despite the typos. This is a very short story. It was sweet in a way but not too much happens between the H and h. I liked the idea of how the cupcakes lead to people finding their soulmates and how in a way Brian is able to help Belle expand her business. I felt that we didn’t get to know the male as much as the female lead but we see how he wants to get to know Belle better.Though there was no epilogue, the story ended nicely. It wasn’t like one of those short stories that end somewhat abruptly leaving you thinking that you needed to know more about the characters future. This sort of abrupt or quick end fit with the storyline. It just really seemed like they would have a promising relationship. I don’t like open ended endings but I think for the length of the story and the way the story ends on Valentine’s Day, this type of ending was ok. However, I think the story definitely could have been more satisfying with a more definite end. There was also something wrong with a few of the sentences. Some sentences were missing a punctuation or word in certain places. I had to read the sentences over a couple of times. Sometimes it seemed as if the author didn’t finish her thought or go back to change the word that was meant to be put in. But this wasn’t a big problem.
What do You think about Cupid's Cupcake (2013)?
Cute story but the ending kind of left you hanging.
