Curiosities: A Collection Of Stories (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

I normally don't like short stories. I know it's an unfair generalization to make - there are plenty of good short stories in the world. I just don't like getting pulled in to care about characters only to have the whole thing end a few pages later. Despite my dislike, once in a while I'll make an exception and read some. This is one of those times. This is more than a book of short stories...it's a glimpse into a larger story, the story of how three authors challenged themselves to each turn out a piece of short fiction once a week and post it online. The critique process is captured in comments written in the margins. These notes (and occasional doodles) are my favorite part of the whole thing. It was also cool to see hints at some of the longer works I've read (by Maggie and Tessa, I still need to pick up some of Brenna's books) because this was published before some of their newer books. Anyway, there is probably a lot more I could say about this, but I'll settle for highly recommending it if you like short stories. Or if you hate short stories. The first story is about a vamoire in her basement, and from here every story is just as creative, innovative, and amazing.I've read this short stories collection several times, and everytime I'm delighted by the fantastical tales Brenna Yovanoff, Maggie Steifvater, and Tessa Gratton stir up. Some stories are the starts Of novels, and some are just great short stories, butI promise you that when you've read them all you won't be able to pick a favorite.

What do You think about Curiosities: A Collection Of Stories (2013)?

I'm usually not one to re read a book as soon as I'm done with it, but this book deserves it.
