I loved this book! I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, so I was very surprised. I loved the friends, that surprised me too, in too many other books the friends are horrible to the main character. I loved Ellis' dad. Nothing more I can say, but that he was great. The main characters were great, and didn't annoy me. Except when it came to Ellis' relationship with her sister. But, that was minor. So the romance side dragged just a bit but that happens when both are strangled by insecurities and self-doubt. What makes me gives this 5 stars... I love the fact that Ellis is a take charge girl. She's smart and a smart-ass. She tackles the fact she's a big girl and most of the time is cool with it. Hey, who of us doesn't have moment of BLEH about ourselves and just a nugget of "what do I think I'm doing" doubts. Mike, Mike, Mike...I love the fact that he's gorgeous but we see his 'damage' and he can eventually admit why he couldn't commit to a woman. One of my favorite scenes is when Mike tells Ellis that back in the past he was attracted to her but he wasn't ready for her. That he could see her as a long term kind of woman and that's not where he was in his life. OMG...her parents...the hippie feminist professor and the brilliant time autistic scientist....it's a wonder she doesn't have more issues. And I love the way they relate to one another! So much more I could go on and on about but thinking I need to find me a cup of coffee and bask in the laughter this book gave me.I'm thinking I am going to have to read some more of Sugar's books, especially if they are anything like this one.
