I'm already a huge Laura Kate fan, but I was a little surprised when I found this novella yesterday, as I haven't seen anything like this before (authors writing different books from the same story). But it was still a no brainer when it came to trying it. I really love some of the other authors from this series, so I didn't think I'd be disappointed, and so far, I'm not!!Yes it's a little predictable, but you can argue all romances are, and it's a really sweet story with some definite heat. I've gone on to download the other books and will now carry on with the rest.I'd definitely recommend Laura (her Hero books are some of my all time favourite reads) and I'd definitely recommend this new series too. 4.5/5Tantalizing, teasing, and totally hot. Dare to Resists takes the pulse of readers and infuses our desires into the writing. There is a great story as we watch the dance between Kady and Colton, miscommunication, years of no communication, and of course assumptions colored the past between these two. The premise was fun though not completely new, her brother's hot friend, supposed unrequited love and a missed opportunity with a twist of forbidden desires ramps up the anticipation as you read and the story unfolds.Colton has desires that he doesn't consider normal, at least not normal enough for a woman like Kady. He believes what he craves would repulse her and would never allow him to give her what she deserve, marriage and love. However, one fateful night allows chance to play it's hand and Colton stumbles upon something Kady is embarrassed to admit at first. This book is filled with great sexual tension that escalates to one hell of a scene. The chemistry between these two characters is perfect and has a very satisfying ending. Kady is written in such a way that you can easily become her and experience the story yourself. She was confident and strong, a female that didn't annoy the crap out of you. There was great sex but also such sweet passion and emotion:“If you couldn’t be your true self with the person you planned to spend your whole life with, you shouldn’t be with them in the first place.” Colton was a good male lead displaying a mix of dominant, alpha, caring and tortured. He also happens to be ex-military...yeah, I know already drooling. He viewed himself poorly and had huge internal struggles about his worth especially towards someone like Kady. He was written in such a way that you just wanted to hold him and tell him to shush with his thoughts because his desires didn't make him a bad person, and to get over it and get busy making you moan in pleasure.I loved that this was a novella making it a great "snack" of a read, it felt like the perfect length for the story. Anything longer would have probably been drawn out in a way that wouldn't benefit the characters. This left me feeling satisfied and no regrets with the purchase. This is an introductory book into a series of books written by other authors. I haven't read any of the other books but might one day.
