This is definitely more of a companion or side note to the first season of the anime. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen the anime because it could get really confusing. I also don't think it represents the anime characters accurately all of the time (Hei was the most ooc to me) and it's definitely been shojou-ified. I enjoyed it (especially since I got it for 50% off!) and any DTB fan will find it entertaining. I only got this book because I had seen an AMV for the anime, and wondered what it was all about....Wow.Rushing is DISGUSTING. And I get the feeling that to understand this manga novel thing, I need to have seen the anime... and all I have seen is an AMV. And only a few characters in the AMV were in this manga... that I recognized.... To be honest, I think this is something of an overglorified fanfiction, but I can't really fully say so because I haven't seen the anime. The art is... um, it could be better. I mean, this is from YenPress, the guys who published Black Butler, so I expected art of a higher level. But I mean WOW this art made my eyes burn at some points - especially at the amount of water coursing down the people's faces when they cried. No one leaks THAT MUCH fluid when crying, I'm sorry to say.Like I said, I only bought this because I thought it would help me understand the anime before I decided if I should watch it or not.My ultimate advice: watch the anime first, as this omnibus is CONFUSING otherwise.
What do You think about Darker Than Black (2010)?
Great series, full of plenty of twists and turns. Looking forward to the second installment.

This was really good, but I think I'll understand the story better once I watch the anime :)
