A very well written and interesting story, THE SECRET OF EVERYTHING tells about a young woman finding herself in her hidden past. The thing I like about Barbara O'Neal's books is that they are full of interesting characters and situations that you could easily see yourself in. At times she is repetitive in her writing (every fountain in the book is "chuckling" for instance) but that is a small thing. Her writing is cohesive and her voice is strong and melodic. If you like women's fiction I would highly recommend reading not only THE SECRET OF EVERYTHING, but I would encourage you to check out her other books. some solid elements, just the sort of fluff I was looking for, but a bit too coincidental for my tastes. Her long-lost and unknown twin sister is mysteriously in the same small town just paroled and they end up baking bread together??? And her father happens to have been in love with the woman who takes her under her wing? I like the mysterious and the sense that all is connected. But this strains even my willing credulity.
This book was mindless fun which is exactly what I need when immersed in volumes of CPE!!
