Really good crime novel set in Aberdeen with acting DI MCRae, got a few looks for laughing out loud at some of the dialogue. Do like the characters even the minor ones. There's a few gruesome murders based, starting with one of the worst ways to be killed. There's also very sad moments in this stemming from the story of Logan's personal life which is continued from previous books in the series, best to read in order. This is the latest in MacBride's series of books about detectives in Aberdeen. The hero is Logan McRae, a difficult and damaged man. (He first appears in Cold Granite.) His bosses are unreasonable, his underlings incompetent, and his work always overwhelming and difficult. As it's Aberdeen it's usually cold and raining too. Although the crimes he investigates (and solves) involve horrific murders, gangland bosses, violence and corruption, some parts of these books are laugh out loud hilarious. They benefit from being read in order, and this one is sadder than some of the others.
What do You think about Das Knochenband (2014)?
Really enjoyed this book but there was an awful lot going on to keep up with.
