Dawn Of The Arcana, Vol. 01 (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Never heard of this but in the summary read the name Loki and immediately wanted to read this. But at the same time, the summary sounded interesting none the less. The main character surprised me and I was like, wow, is she going to be a strong heroine? Thank you and smiled when she stood up for herself. I was like, finally! And it seems there's more to the prince too. Very good start to a series I just might continue reading. Dawn of Arcana takes place in a fantasy world where two kingdoms on one island have thought for over two hundred years. A marriage of peace between the southern princess and the northern prince is formed, but none think the peace will last. Princess Nakaba, despite being a princess is an outcast in her own land for her red hair. In the kingdom only the underclasses have red, blonde, or brown hair while the royalty have black hair. The Ajin are a despised class who have animal characteristic and are virtual slaves, but their skills in battle make them good workers and soldiers. Nakaba arrives with only her Aijin servant, Loki into this strange and hostile kingdom.I will say first that Arcana is a beautiful manga, not just in art, but design as well. The clothing and hair is well thought out and is given a very exotic characterization. At least the Southern kingdom, the Northern Kingdom has a more traditional European atmosphere to it. Rei Toma clearly put a lot of thought into her fantasy world and characters by creating a beautiful setting and well thought out characters. In one volume she fleshes out the main trio very well and gives them amazing dept. for their personality. Even Prince Caesar, a character you will likely first hate is given redeeming characterizations by the end of the manga that deepens his first appearing shallow character very much. This is a beautiful and well thought out manga, that I would recommend to any manga/anime, romance, or fantasy fan.

**Very little spoilers (not much really)** This manga is by far one of the best I have read so far!! The plot to the story is great and the characters relationship to one another is outstanding. Nakaba and Caesar's relationship is one that I really loved , because they are forced to marry due to circumstances and over the course of this book they develop a strong bond together (I wish I was is Nakaba's place -Caesar is soo cute). Nakaba and Loki's relationship is on a different level, their bond is very strong and nothing can break it. I'm still waiting for the new chapter to come out so I am being patient and trying not to break my computer... Overall I love this manga soo much that I started reading and before I knew it I finished all the chapters:) People who are reading this, "YOU SHOULD READ THE MANGA!!!"
