TLDR: an old woman travels out of country after her husband dies, meets a bunch of people, befriends a 10 year old boy who drowns, she travels again to meet his family without telling anyone in her family, she meets the boy's sister, and then somehow her previously drug-addicted daughter randomly shows up to see her.It wasn't horrible, but I would not reread this book or recommend it to anyone. The book started off strong, hit some doldrums, and ended alright. The main character had some soul searching to do, and because of some chaotic plot twists and lack of a safe place to regroup, didn't get a chance to do it. I liked the main character, and I liked reading a book centered on a self-reliant older woman. It seems like we never ever fit perfectly into our worlds. We are always adapting to changes. There is no future day where things are perfect.
