I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I started reading this book. It soon became clear that I picked a winner. This is the second novel that I've read by this author and am totally impressed by her writing ability. I must warn you, though, you will need a box of tissues to get you through, Crossing Oceans. The story is a difficult one because there is no easy way to deal with knowing that you have terminal cancer and that you only have a short time left to get your affairs in order. You will walk away understanding what true love is and the sacrifices it sometimes requires. Faith in God and trusting His desires and timing, are some important lessons that are shared in this wonderful, yet heartbreaking, story.I highly recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys true-to-life fiction. Even though this story will break your heart, you'll be better for it. Gina Holmes’ work is stunning in her heart-wrenching, debut novel. In Crossing Oceans, Holmes carries her readers on a journey of love and forgiveness. I strongly advise readers keep a box of Kleenex handy. Holmes masterfully reaches the emotions, delivering a mix of love, anger, sorrow, and hope. Both the plot and characters are refreshingly real. Faith is addressed in a true-to-life fashion, and not in an artificial, preachy manner often typical of novels in this genre.I strongly recommend this book to anyone searching for a story that feeds the heart. I hope this is only the first of many novels by Holmes.Review copy provided by Tyndale.
