A modern retelling of Wizard's First Rule. I used to love the series when it first came out, but after a while I began to notice that the writing was formulaic. With this writing I realized that I was able to discern the author's political leanings. Partially because of how obvious they seemed to me, and partially because of how antithetical they are to my political leanings it became increasingly difficult to enjoy the book. Another Rahl book (sigh). What more can I say—same plot just different timeline and names of characters. I'm afraid to read other books from this series because its going to be another character... forever understanding his power and learning it. I think 13 books about Rahl (and still counting) is enough. I liked the first 5 series, endured reading the rest....but another one? First time Goodkind readers might appreciate this book but to those of us who had read the entire series...The Law of Nines is redundant. And the action scenes are not even that great!
This was not at all what I expected. Not one of Goodkinds better books, but very interesting.
