This is my first Sookie Stackhouse novel. So I guess I'm starting at the end then reading backwards? I have, however, watched True Blood since S1 and am familiar with the characters via the TV show. I understand the books and the TV show follow different narrative tracks. I also understand that many die hard book fans are unhappy with the way Charlaine Harris decided to end her series, so maybe I'm missing something, but I figure an author knows her characters better than anyone. XO. Really sad to see the series end; it's one of my all-time favorites. I loved the world that Charlaine Harris created -- a supernatural parallel to the one that we live in. I will miss all the characters she created. In many ways I felt that this was a bittersweet goodbye, I'm disappointed with the way things ended with Sookie and Eric -- I'm not disappointed in the writing, these are the author's characters and it's how she wanted it to play out -- I just really loved the dynamic between Eric and Sookie it was heavy, intense, flirty, and fun in different books but it was never dull. As much as I like Sam -- and I really do like/admire/respect him, I didn't feel the same kind of connection between Sam and Sookie as between her and Eric. I wished that their "hook-up" would have been as exciting as the ones between Eric and Sookie -- then I would have been super happy for her. Because she could have had the best of it all -- the trust, respect, and chemistry. I'll always love this series and look forward to everything she writes in the future.
What do You think about Dead Ever After (2013)?
Not a fan of the ending, it could have been done much better.

Just stop at the 12th book and write your own ending...
