Death Note: Black Edition, Volume 2 (2009) - Plot & Excerpts
So far i the book a new girl named Misa has the eyes that can see a persons name to use in the death note and used that to find the identity of Kira/light. All the investigators who are all trying to figure out who is Kira suspects that it could be the chief of polices son who which in fact is Kira. The only one who suspects that is L himself and he has meet light and always tries to question him and makes him try to slip up and say something that only Kira could say. For all of the things happening in the book so far for light the tables are tuning and heads are spinning and nobody knows who they can trust. I think that everyone in the whole class should read this because even though its a graphic novel its also a tough read as Mrs.Lau strongly said. I enjoyed this book. The artwork and the story were both great. I haven’t looked at the other editions of this series but with the black editions, I do like the coloured pages. All-in-all it’s a good old morality tale with a good dose of transgression and playing god. Light sets out to rid the world of crime, to make it a better place, but to do so, becomes a criminal himself, becoming what he is trying to rid the world of. At first it’s only criminals that he kills but he starts killing innocent people so that he can continue to do so. And the question that rises is, ‘is this wrong?’ I absolutely love the battle of the wits between L and Light as they try and get the upper hand on each other and you have to think to be able to keep up with it yourself. It’s also very interesting to see how similar, and yet how different they are from each other. I’m not however, overly fond of Misa, who is a little too sickly sweet for my taste and is rather annoying at times, especially with her ‘love’/obsession of Light and her willingness to sacrifice everything for him and do what she’s told is a little pathetic. At the same time, she’s a character that I hope to live. Favourite character has to be Ryuuk. But I also like the oddness of L. And that is all I have to say/ can be bothered to say.
