This was not what I thought it would be. It was actually two books written by two different authors. The first book, "Untouched" by Kresley Cole was so-so. It wasn't the best book in the series. I didn't really buy into the 'ice' thing. Their solution to the problem was a bit weird, even for a paranormal romance. Also, I haven't read books 5 through 7 in the IAD series so I had to skim through parts of the book to avoid information about Conrad (his story must be in book 5,6,or 7)The second book, "Tempt Me Eternally" by Gena Showalter was considerably better. I loved the conflict and the passion between the two lead characters. I loved the set up for future stories. And I loved the hint at a relationship between this book and the IAD series. Overall, I enjoyed both books. The three starts are for Untouchable (Kresley Cole). Tempt Me Eternally (Gena Showalter) gets nothing. Untouchable is a fairly decent story, I'm enjoying the Immortals After Dark series (mostly) and this short story covers some plot from the other books. Plus the sex between Murdoch and Daniela is very hot (haha), at least up until they can actually touch. Solid story and I enjoyed that Murdoch didn't force his sexual attentions on Danii, that she actually wanted to have sex with him is a nice change. I got 15 pages into Tempt Me Eternally and gave it up in disgust. It's pretty much rape fantasy. Breean sees Aleaha and decides that she is his, a spoil of war and will be his slave. She repeatedly tells him "No", "Please, let go", "Get off me", etc. and he just continues to touch her and mount her, but then she starts to like it because he secrets a drugging scent that turns people on. Of course. No. Just no. I am beyond done with this shit. If the heroine says no, that means no. This fetishizing and romanticizing rape is disgusting and it's almost impossible to read PNR without encountering it. Aleaha was unequivocally stating that she did not want sex and then was seduced by his scent, literally. This is just not ok.
