Deliver Me From Temptation (2012) - Plot & Excerpts

Logan is the son of the Head of the Paladin Council. Yet he remained friends with Roland even after he became a vampire and remains friends with his half-sister despite his father's antipathy. One night, chasing a succubus, Logan is accosted by Detective Jessica Waters. Jessica is looking for the murderer of a low-life rapist whose body has been found in the river and an informant has agreed to meet her near the club Logan is in. Whilst investigating a noise Jessica sees Logan and Alex chasing what appears to be a woman in a bad part of town. Logan wipes Jessica's memories and takes her home but Jessica is left with a nagging feeling that something isn't right. Roland is the chief suspect for the murder of Jessica's victim and unfortunately Logan and Jessica run into each other again. All to soon Logan realises that this human woman is his mate - something his father will not countenance. This book follows the PNR tradition of warriors with super powers saving mankind from the forces of evil and at the same time meeting their one true mate. But it is well-written and the story is well thought out. There were also some good teasers about other Paladin warriors and the half-breeds and a succubus who isn't all that she seems. Oh and Mike - what is he? And what is going on with Damon? My only reason for giving this a three star (more of a three and a half anyway) rather than a four star is the underlying concept that the Paladin warriors are descendants of angels and are trying to save souls from the devil - JR Ward has done this and I didn't have a problem with it but this jars slightly. It's a small point but I kept expecting the book to become a religious diatribe.Anyway, it didn't and I enjoyed it - looking forward to the next one. Review to come (hopefully) but ... Finished my last book of the 2012 last night, Deliver Me From Temptation, I liked second book in Tes Hilaire's Paladin Warriors series even better than the first one. The connection between Paladin warrior for the Light Logan (half brother to the the previous leading lady and heir apparent to the Paladin's council) and homicide detective Jessica really hit high on the hot stuff meter and I liked the case in the background which gave everyone something to do. I also liked the set up for future characters too, despite the fact that they weren't given as much fleshing out screen time this time around - I can see several bad guys poised for redemption in the future (I love the when-bad-guys-go-good trope).

What do You think about Deliver Me From Temptation (2012)?

Really good! I hope to find the first book since I was slightly lost having not read it first.
