This grabs you from the get-go. I had a hard time putting it down, as it raced through in break-neck speed, just what I like.... and lots of twists and turns... no boring paragraphs here. How do authors think this stuff up? However, when I got to the part towards the end that ties up all the loose ends and explains the "why" of how the plot line came about, I had a hard time with the credibility of it. Without spoiling this for prospective readers, let me state diplomatically that one just would not succumb to the demands imposed (on a main character) by a "bad guy"... using his family as collateral is not something any man would do in a business exchange. Nor would a "bad guy" in real life jeopardize himself by verbalizing those grizzly terms and let the client "walk away" without personal repercussions if the client is not willing to agree to the terms. We are supposed to believe that he would do that and not expect consequences? Just wouldn't happen! That kind of ruined it for me... I know this is fiction, but really! Yet, it had me so enthralled and into it, that I have to give it 4 stars anyway. Okay for a free book on Amazon so have given it an extra star for being free. The book starts off very well and you are chucked straight into the thick of it. The FBI break in and arrest Brynn's husband in the middle of the night. Her husband is a regular guy, a banker, a father who has never been in trouble in his life. Brynn is convinced this is all a BIG mistake? but how well do you actually know the person sleeping beside you? This start gives the book an exciting beginning but the rest of the book just drifts to a lack luster conclusion. The reasons for putting the families lives in danger were so far fetched that I don't think anyone on the planet no matter how desperate would find themselves accepting the terms. Well at least no one with any iota of a feeling for their family members.
