A delightfully engaging and amusing read, with a very easy to like main character, for all his quirks. This is particularly unusual when you realise that the very organised, very committed to his clients, Martin is, in fact, a career criminal. But you can't help but like him, because he takes such pride in what he does. He actually causes very little harm, and soon enough starts to help his clients. The deep connection he feels leads to him taking risks - which has unexpected results. At times I laughed out loud, which is always a positive, and I also just really liked everything about this story. A fabulous way to spend a few hours. Martin Railsback, Jr. is an OCD thief who only steals items that won't ever be noticed missing by their owners. He steals from the same "clients" for years and is intimately familiar with their homes, schedules, and lives. A mishap forces Martin into a new situation and unexpectedly leads him to get involved with his clients' lives in ways he never imagined.Martin is like an anti-Monk (the Tony Shalhoub kind, not the Franciscan kind) and he is one antihero you don't need to feel guilty rooting for! Very cute and fun read.
What do You think about Der Gute Dieb (2009)?
The premise was delightfully quirky, and it started out well, but kinda limped along at the end.
