Der Kommende Aufstand (2007) - Plot & Excerpts

I really enjoyed the "Circles" - the chapters that spelled out how we are deep in the middle of a catastrophy - not "it's coming" but "it's here" - it was all cogent and pithy. They lost me a little in the vague later chapters which were a foggy how-to involving "communes" - maybe they're right, but I couldn't help but think of the survivalist nuts we've got cluttering up the woods in America. It didn't stir me to action, but I liked the thinking put into the book. I hope the authors get out of French jail. A very, very passionate tract, and perhaps not unfairly to be described as very French too. There is a heavy emphasis on revolution here, preferably violent revolution, which can only happen when the people involved no longer fear death. It is easy to see why it has ruffled gendarmerie feathers with its constant rhetoric of governmental overthrow. The hypothesis outside of organisation and revolution is that the things we currently treasure in our post-bourgeois society form our prisons. Our class lines and political ideologies are redundant. Left has no power and right has no solution. We must organise communal systems of existence and live within the means of our own production at all times resisting state levels of authority. We are what we are, and our collective depression is merely a gateway to our disassociation from political discourse. Immigration is a diversion from what matters. Some people define their very being by their own hatred of foreign nationals to the point that if there were no immigrants they would forget how to be French, or British or American. Work is a system for the enslavement of hope, this is the order of the world that must be ruined, until then we are merely the counting machines of capital. Seattle, Chiapas and Genoa set the tone for the uprising and we must follow it to the natural conclusion of the emancipation of the worker, mentally and physically. These are the kind of things contained within The Coming Insurrection. Whether one agrees with them or not, the tone is infective, one must agree that it is a very well presented argument for what is wrong, their solution is truly radical, but also very simple; fewer possessions, more connections.

What do You think about Der Kommende Aufstand (2007)?

This was alright. Lots of rambling, with profound paragraph thrown in every once in a while.
