After enduring an unhappy marriage, Lady Jane Roxdale, is now a widow and unwilling to remarry. Unfortunately the terms of her late husband's will left her with the money but her husband's cousin, Constantine Black, a disgraced libertine, with the estate and, even worse, guardianship of Luke, Fredrick's ward. Now the two of them are faced with an unpleasant choice, marriage; for Constantine, to get the money needed to keep the estate and Jane, to keep Luke whom she loves like a son. Enter the Ministry of Marriage who may have a say in whether they marry or not and they are only interested in money, power and prestige. With time running out on a mortgage due on a mill or foreclosure, what choices do Lady Jane and Constantine have? Can they overcome all these obstacles and find true love? The secondary story was kind of silly but the story between Lady Jane and Constantine was touching. Constantine was beguiled by Jane and a natural at running her estate. Jane never knew real passion from her cruel husband until she met Constantine. Luke made it all better. What a tantalizing cover! The dress she is wearing is gorgeous, even if she seems to be in the process of taking it off xD Now this is the first in the Ministry of Marriage novel, and from the snippet at the end of the book, this is not the last we will see from these characters. There was some interesting plot twists, and the relatives and friends of the couple that got together in the end will have their own stories to tell, no doubt. I really liked the uniqueness to their love, and that she had to stand up in a room full of people for him to believe in it, and her. I'll definitely read more from this author, she breathes a fresh air into a much loved genre of mine.
